Very pale colour, with soft nettles on the nose. Nice gooseberry flavours in the mouth, with balancing acidity and good finish

Producer tasting notes

Sourced from established vineyards in Marlborough's Southern Valley's region, this wine is fresh and vibrant with passion fruit, gooseberry and some melon characters. It has a balanced richness of fruit with a floral note through its palate, with intense depth of flavour and a crisp finish.

Information on producer

Omaka Springs Estates is a family business owned by Geoff and Robina Jensen located in the Southern Valleys of Marlborough, New Zealand. In 1990, the Jensens established their first olive grove near Nelson.

Information on Wine & Area

The Omaka Valley is a relatively flat area made up of free-draining, lighter soils and a mix of stones with some clay. The Southern Valleys benefit from diurnal temperature variations, meaning that the area experiences warm, sunny days in contrast to very cool nights. In grapes, this variation has the effect of producing high acid and high sugar content as the grapes' exposure to sunlight increases the ripening qualities while the sudden drop in temperature at night preserves the balance of natural acids in the grape.
