Tasting note

Soft full fruit from the merlot grape, supple and rounded silky smooth with light acidity. 100% Merlot Enjoy with most meat. We have been buying Ch.Grinou for almost twenty-five years, and the wine is consistently good. As we move on to the 2010 vintage, this is their second official organic red. Just so good.

Producer tasting notes

Floral, fresh raspberry and strawberry, ripe tannins, good minerality, smooth finish with good length.

Information on producer

'There has never been a Chteau as such here but there are remains of an earlier monastery, destroyed in the Wars of Religion, which gave the village its name. There are still the remains of a porch dating from the 12th century and evidence too in the current building that stones from the monastery have been re-used over the years. Guy inherited half his father's estate in 1978 and set about making a name for Chteau Grinou which was created in 1986. The Cuissets' motto, taken from Virgil's "Georgics" and in homage to the monks is fittingly "Labor omnia vincit improbus", meaning "Dedicated work overcomes all obstacles".

Information on Wine & Area

A lovely, dynamic city on the Dordogne, Bergerac is known worldwide for its literary hero, Cyrano, as well as for its beautiful countryside and delicious cuisine. The Bergerac appellation has been in existence since Gallo-Roman times, and extends over 12,000 hectares, 75% of which are planted with red grapes. The varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. They produce balanced, supple, authentic wines that can be identified by their velvety tannins and red fruit aromas.
