Vintners

Mosel Saar Ruwer

The Moselle starts at Saarburg and meanders its way until it meets the Rhine at Koblenz. The wines are usually fragrant and medium to sweet, grown on steep slopes unfit for normal agriculture. The soil is flinty and full of slate so the vine will grow down twenty metres to find water. Whilst the riesling grape is still king, many other varieties have been introduced during the last thirty years. However Prum's rieslings are superb.
